Performance as a Function of Process and Discipline

At Artisan Partners, we regard results as the outcome of a repeatable research and execution system rather than the product of prediction. The Global Equity Team operates within a structured framework that allows decisions from idea formation to trade implementation to be evaluated, reviewed, and refined over time. Our objective is consistency of approach, transparency of measurement, and accountability to risk.

Multi-Layered Performance Attribution

We assess contribution through a layered attribution process that considers sector and regional allocation, factor exposures, and individual security selection. Where appropriate, strategies are referenced against relevant benchmarks such as the S&P 500 or MSCI ACWI and viewed through risk-adjusted lenses including Sharpe, Sortino, and information ratios. The intent is to provide a balanced, decision-aware view of where value has tended to be created and where it has not, acknowledging that market conditions evolve.

Risk & Liquidity Management

Risk oversight combines quantitative toolkits with qualitative judgment balancing precision with perspective. Position sizing is managed within indicative VaR bands, and aggregate exposures are adjusted with sensitivity to regime shifts suggested by volatility conditions, interest-rate dynamics, currency trends, and related macro indicators. Liquidity tiers and transactioncost awareness guide how positions are established and exited, with an emphasis on execution quality and price integrity rather than speed.

Portfolio Construction

The portfolio architecture typically follows a diversified 40/30/20/10 allocation, blending core U.S. growth exposure with selectively identified opportunities across Europe and Asia, adds an institutional-access sleeve for pre-market, block or primary allocations where permissible, and includes a thematic income component that may utilize U.S. Treasuries or listed vehicles linked to infrastructure and energy transition. Actual weights may vary over time as the opportunity set, risk budget, and client guidelines evolve.

Portfolio Construction: The 40/30/20/10 Model
  • 40% U.S. Core Growth – High-conviction innovation leaders in AI, software, and energy transition.
  • 30% Global Select – Asia and Europe equities blending undervalued and structural growth opportunities.
  • 20% Institutional Access – Exclusive pre-market, block trades, and IPO allocations.
  • 10% Thematic Fixed Income – U.S. Treasuries, blockchain infrastructure, and clean energy ETFs.

Methodology: The 3I Model

Our process can be summarized as Identify, Interpret, and Implement. We identify candidates through global data screens that surface names where growth potential coexists with valuation discipline. We interpret signals by combining fundamental research with AI-assisted analytics to frame company quality within broader macro and liquidity contexts. We implement via staged entries, dynamic rebalancing, and periodic portfolio reviews designed to keep exposures aligned with stated objectives while recognizing uncertainty. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results and cannot guarantee outcomes.
